LCCI ready to pay KBD construction price

LAHORE - President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry has said that traders are ready to pay all construction expenditures of Kala Bagh Dam within a month of its completion. Addressing a seminar Who is responsible for crises of water and energy organised by Muthida Kisaan Mahaz (MKM) here on Sunday, he said the Kala Bagh Dam was the need of the time so, he added, it should be built as soon as possible. He appreciated the government for its efforts for introducing the NFC award and 18th amendment unanimously, adding that now the government should build up consensus on Kala Bagh Dam. He said the profit of USD 500 billion per annum would be received from this project. He stated that Pakistan Water Front which was established by LCCI would give presentations next month about water and energy crises to all chambers of commerce and industry across the country. He said the LCCI had requested SM Zafar, a lawyer, for his legal support at the issue of water with India. Earlier, Ayub Khan Mayo, Chief MKM, demanded of the government in his speech to file a case in International court of Justice against India regarding the water issue. He announced a protest on May 30 from Badian to Ganda Singh borders. He said that he would sacrifice his life but never allow any country to take a single drop of water from the share of Pakistan. Ibrahim Mughal, president Pakistan Agri Forum said on the occasion that 75 percent of Pakistan exports depended upon the crops of cotton and rice which were being effected due to the shortage of water in the rivers. Saif Ullah Mansoor, convenor Pakistan Water Movement, Dr Shahid Raza, representative of Pakistan Water Front, Haji Mukhtar Ahmad, president Khuddam Kisaan Society and Ch Zulfiqar Ali, representative Punjab Bar Council also addressed the seminar. While Qaisra Sheikh, president Women Chamber Of Commerce and Industry Punjab was also present at the occasion.
