LAHORE  - Lahore High Court on Monday sought notification regarding constitution of inquiry tribunal over Model Town incident and adjourned further proceedings till September 05. 
Advocate Sheraz Zaka had filed the petitioner stating that judicial inquiry had been completed but kept secret. He said every citizen had his right to information provided by the Constitution. He pleaded that the awful incident of Model Town according to which 15 people were murdered and 85 others left badly injured took place on June 17. “The investigation has been completed. The same should be published so that people can know about it.”
A law officer told the judge that the inquiry report of the judicial tribunal had already been sent to Punjab government through its Home Secretary. He told the court that the petitioner should move application to Punjab Home Secretary to get that report.
After hearing both sides, Justice Ameer Bhatti of the LHC summoned notification issued by Punjab government to constitute Inquiry Tribunal on Model Town incident by September 05. The court rejected the report submitted by the Punjab government on the Model Town tragedy and ordered re-submission of a comprehensive report on the matter on Tuesday (today). The provincial government had submitted the report in the court during the hearing of a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Zubair Niazi.
The petition contended that the government had put the inquiry report in cold storage like many judicial inquiries that had been held in the past.
The LHC disagreed with the report, stating it did not address the issue. The court, moreover, directed Advocate General Hanif Khatana to obtain a comprehensive report from the provincial government on the case and submit it to court.
The hearing of the case was adjourned indefinitely.

Meanwhile, a writ petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking registration of criminal case against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and others in compliance of Sessions court’s order.
Zubair Niazi of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf filed the petition and submitted that the sessions court had ordered the police to register FIR against responsible of Model Town incident.
He said despite that order the case had not registered. He requested the court to order police to lodge an FIR against the accused as per order of the court and take action against police for delaying implementation.
