LAHORE - Nazaria Pakistan Trust Chairman Rafique Tarar said that December 25 called for a thorough review of our performance since the demise of Quaid-e-Azam.
He said it while addressing a special ceremony to mark 138th birthday of the Father of the Nation, Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The sitting was held at the Aiwan-i-Karkunan-i-Tehreek-i-Pakistan with Rafique Tarar in the chair.
“The day compels us to ask ourselves whether we have been able to achieve the goals set by the Quaid-e-Azam for the newborn state and whether we have succeeded in making Pakistan a truly modern Islamic, democratic and welfare state as envisioned by him. The current state of affairs is simply deplorable,” Tarar held.
Talking about the Peshawar tragedy, the NPT chairman called it a symptomatic of the horrible challenges staring us in the face. He said that the rule of law should be on top of priority list. Had our bureaucracy, judiciary, legislature and law enforcing institutions demonstrated integrity, honesty and efficiency, the masses would also have imbibed these positive and constructive qualities and made their homeland attain its rightful status in the comity of nation. It is high time that all the institutions embraced the great values advocated by the founder of Pakistan and make it an impregnable state.
NPT Vice Chairman Dr Rafique Ahmad observed that the Quaid-e-Azam was a paragon of truthfulness. He was immaculate externally as well as internally. He advocated the virtue of self-reliance and attached great value to the seeking of knowledge, which can raise the status of a human being even above that of the angels.
Liaqat Baloch exhorted the government to evolve a national strategy based on our national priorities, which is capable of curbing the expansionism of India.
The event was held by the Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust in collaboration with the Pakistan Movement Workers Trust. The speakers included Mian Farooque Altaf, Dr Ajmal Niazi, Qayyum Nizami, Justice (r) Nasira Javed Iqbal, Waleed Iqbal advocate, Pir Ejaz Ahmad Hashmi, Dr Parveen Khan, Begum Mehnaz Rafi, Dr MA Soofi, ChNaeem Hussain Chattha, Begum Khalida Munir-u-Din Chughtai, Mian Ibrahim Tahir, Engr Malik Tufail, MK Anwar Baghdadi, Col (r) Saleem Malik and Dr Khalid Abbas. The proceedings of the event were conducted by Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust Secretary Shahid Rasheed.
PTI celebrates Quaid’s birthday
The PTI Punjab chapter held separate functions to celebrate the 138th birthday of Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam, in the provincial capital on Thursday.
PTI Punjab president Ijaz Chaudhary, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Shahzad Malik, Rai Hassan Nawaz and others held a seminar followed by special prayer for Quaid-e-Azam at party’s provincial secretariat.
The PTI also held a seminar at Lahore Press Club in this regard. The party leaders who organised the event include Naeem Mir, Naeemul Haq, Murad Raas, Yasir Gilani, Sadia Sohail, Waleed Iqbal and others.
The speakers addressing the participants on these occasions said that there was a dire need to transform Pakistan into state as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam.
They said that Quaid dreamt about a Pakistan, which follows the principles of equality, justice and protection of rights of all segments living in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
They claimed that they along with party chief Imran Khan were struggling to transform Pakistan into a state as envisioned by its founder.
Condemning the extremism in all its manifestations, they claimed that religious entities had played a major role in creating divisions among the society resultantly dividing the nation.  Special prayers were also offered by the PTI leaders and workers for Quaid-e-Azam.
