KC centennial celebrations begin


LAHORE - Inaugural ceremony of Kinnaird College (KC) centennial celebrations was held on Monday.
The ceremony was attended by Kinnaird's faculty members, students, alumni and distinguished guests. Notable celebrities such as Durdana Butt, Faryal Gauhar and Madeeha Gauhar also attended it.
The ceremony started with a welcome note by Kinnaird College for Women Principal Dr. Rukhsana David. “This year Kinnaird celebrates its centenary which is a milestone in its existence and boasts of a glorious history of achievements and contributions towards empowering women,” she said.
“Since its inception in 1913, it has produced graduates that have made its Alma mater proud.” Dr David also extended her gratitude to Caroline Best and Mary Staub, great granddaughters of Lord Arthur and Lady Mary Kinnaird, who were also the chief guest on the occasion.
Board of Governors Vice Chairperson addressed the gathering while Chairman Board of Governors and Bishop Emeritus Alexander John Malik sent their best wishes. KC Vice Principal Dr Nikhat Khan was recognized for her remarkable contributions to the development of the college over the years. She has been instrumental in setting up the postgraduate programs at KCW.
Old Associates of Kinnaird Society (OAKS) from all over Pakistan and India were present at the occasion. OAKs Lahore President Surraya Anwar congratulated the Kinnaird staff and students.
A special documentary was screened which chronologically narrated the history of the college since 1913 to date and showcased major landmarks achieved during this time. This documentary was made by Zafar Iqbal and Samer Rizwan.
