LAHORE - The Punjab Assembly administration is considering a proposal to sack some 350 employees since they are doing nothing worthwhile but receiving salaries regularly. Recruited in 2005 by the then Pervaiz Elahi’s govt in Punjab, the services of these employees were regularised in 2007. They are serving in different grades from 1 to 18. Of these 350 employees, three are stated to be in grade 18, while the rest are in lower grades. As per the Punjab Assembly sources, they were recruited for new Punjab Assembly building which has been abandoned by the present government. A committee headed by Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan is working to decide the fate of these employees which have become surplus only because of Punjab Government’s disinterest in completion of the new Punjab Assembly building which is less likely to be operational in the next four years. This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
