World Spay Day observed at UVAS

LAHORE  - The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore observed World Spay Day and organised various activities to create awareness about controlling the increasing population of stray dogs on Wednesday.
The Vets Care Club of the UVAS organised a walk, a seminar and selfie photographs contest to create awareness about controlling the population of stray dog through spaying (neutering) and also through chemical (zeutrtering), not killing them.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha led the walk in which Prof Dr Khushi Muhammad, Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Prof Dr Mansoor-ud-Din, Vets Care Club Patron Prof Dr Aneela Durrani and Vets Care Club president Muneeb Zia, faculty members and a large number of students participated. Speaking on the occasion, Muneeb Zia described about the awareness campaign of surgical Neutering conducted in last week.
Later a seminar was organised to sensitise people about the proper ways of controlling the population of stray dogs and cats, not killing them. Dr Muhammad Mubeen and Dr Zahid called for stopping killing of dogs and promoting surgical and chemical ways of spaying/neutering them to control their stray dogs and cat population. At the concluding ceremony of seminar Dr Sayed Saleem distributed certificates among vets care club Selfie photographs contest winners in which Muhammad Mustahsan got 1st Position, Muhammad Jamshaid got 2nd Usman Aslam stood on 3rd position.
Meanwhile, Department of Pathology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore in collaboration with Higher Education Commission HEC Islamabad, organised a three-day workshop title “Recent Advances in Necropsy practice in Livestock and Poultry and its vetro-legal implications“ began here on Wednesday.
Ex-principle Jhang veterinary collage and senior Pathologist Prof Dr Ashiq Hussain Cheema chaired the inaugural session of the workshop, Prof Dr Khushi Muhammad, Prof Dr Asim Aslam, Dr Ahrar Ahmad Khan, Dr Yaseen Tipu and a large number of UVAS faculty members and participants come from all over the Pakistan present on the occasion.
Prof Dr Asim Aslam described about the objectives of the workshop. He said workshop is to acquaint the field veterinarians from public and private sector with hands on training of conventional and advanced post-mortem techniques in domestic as well as wild animals.
This will also include expert opinions on forensic and vetrolegal aspects of the post-mortem examinations. In which many lecture will be delivered on up gradation of Post mortem skill, Updates on Vetero-legal implications of postmortem examinations, Modern techniques of disease diagnosis in field outbreak, Improve the diagnostic approach of field veterinarians, Latest forensic applications for vetero-legal cases during the workshop.
