LAHORE - On the call of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif the nation on Friday observed mourning day against the brutal killing of Palestinians at the hands of the Zionist forces in Gaza and other parts of Palestine. To mark the mourning day national flag at the public buildings and offices remained at half mast while protest rallies were taken out in Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Multan, Karachi, Quetta, Narowal, Gujrat, Sahiwal, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur,Sialkot, Hyderabad and other parts of the country to condemn the Israelis attacks on the innocent and unarmed Palestinians people and their killing.Over the last 18 days ferocious bombardment by the Israelis forces, around 800 Palestinians, including children and women, have lost their lives, and over 4000 have been left injured. In the Israeli action thousands of houses, schools and other private and public buildings have been demolished. The demonstrators chanted loud slogans against the unabated attacks by the Israeli forces and the silence of the world community, particularly that of the Muslim Ummah, over this situation. Resolutions against Israel and US were also carried at the rallies and the protesters demanded immediate end to the Israeli attacks. A number of private and religious organisations also took out rallies to flay Israeli action. The speakers in the rallies said that Israel action on the innocent Palestinians has come about due to US. They also termed Israel the biggest terrorist on the earth and strongly demanded Muslim community to rise to the occasion to help the Palestinians. They also expressed concern over the silence maintained by the international forums over the killing of innocent Palestinians.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
