LAHORE – Punjab Health Department is working on a strategy to bring polio at zero level in the province during the current year.
Inaugurating three day Short Interval Additional Doze Strategy (SIADS) Activity for Polio Eradication by administering polio drops to the gypsy children residing near Babu Sabu Interchange on Monday, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh Salman Rafique said all the DCOs have been given tasks of strict monitoring of anti-polio campaign in their respective districts, whereas Chief Secretary Punjab would monitor the situation at provincial level This campaign would continue from June 26-28 in 41 sensitive union councils of five towns during which more than four lakh children upto 5 years of age would be administered polio vaccine drops.
A total of 1,200 mobile teams have been constituted to carry out the task. DCO Noorul Ameen Mengal, EDO Health Dr Inaamul Haq and other senior officers were also present. The EDO Health said that the additional doze was being administered in 41 UCs of Gulberg Town, Data Gunj Bakhsh Town, Samanabad Town, Ravi Town and Allama Iqbal Town.
