LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Thursday directed the health authorities for ensuring availability of all necessary medicines at basic health centers.
Presiding over a meeting of the Punjab Health Reform Roadmap, the chief minister asked the health authorities to retain stock of necessary medicines at basic health centres in advance by one month and that special attention be paid to activating the centers at far-flung areas with focus on ensuring attendance of medical officers. He said that installation of biometric system for attendance should also be considered. The chief minister warned that negligence in provision of basic facilities at basic health centers would not be tolerated.
He said that an effective system of punishment and reward was essential for achieving fixed targets in health department. He said that those performing duties efficiently would be encouraged while strict action would be taken on poor performance.
The chief minister said that presence of medical staff at basic and rural health centers was vital so that treatment facilities to the people could be provided on time.
Shahbaz Sharif and all the participants lauded the best performance of EDOs Health Rajanpur, Chiniot, Jhelum and Nankana Sahib. Head of DFID in Pakistan, Richard Montgomery while lauding the commitment, hard work and spirit of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that Punjab government achieved important targets for improving public health facilities in a very short period. Head of DFID also read the special message of special representative of DFID Sir Michael Barbar.
TRIBUTE TO LT COL IFTIKHAR: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has paid tribute to Lt Col Iftikhar Ahmad Jamil Shaheed who laid down his life while fighting terror in Khyber two operation.
The CM stated Shaheed Col Iftikhar has set glorious example of courage and bravery for the whole nation and the brave officers like him are heroes of the country and the nation. We all are proud of him.
He said Pak army has won glorious successes in the war against terrorism and has written a new history of sacrifices. Pakistan Army is rendering supreme sacrifices in operation Zab-e-Azab and the whole nation is proud it.
The CM expressed the resolve to end the menace of terrorism and extremism in the country to a safe future for the country and the nation.
