LAHORE - Dacoits yesterday continued their looting spree in the provincial metropolis and made off with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth three million rupees, police sources claimed. Also, two cars and eight motorcycles were either snatched or stolen away from different parts of the city.
According to police sources, five gunmen forced their entry into the house of Arif Qureshi in Eden Homes Society in the Chuhng police precincts. The bandits held up the family at gunpoint and snatched away Rs650,000 besides gold ornaments. The police were investigating.
Three robbers burst into the house Muhammad Zahid in L-Block Johar Town, and escaped after collecting cash, gold ornaments and mobile phones worth Rs500,000. The bandits also tortured the family members. Four robbers barged into the house of Imran in Qila Daud in the limits of Manga Mandi police. The bandits fled after snatching cash and valuables worth Rs150,000.
Two motorcyclists held up Mushtaq Ahmed at gunpoint on the Lajpat Road in Shahdara. The man was deprived of Rs170,000 and a mobile phone. Two motorcyclists forced their entry into the shop of Muhammad Ayyub near Chowk Nakhuda in Shadbagh area. They held up Ayyub at gunpoint and escaped after snatching Rs151,000.
In another raid, Shakeel Ahmed was robbed of Rs275,000 by two motorcyclists in Mozang police precincts. Another two gunmen held up Mudassar in Model Town area and deprived him of Rs27,000 and a mobile phone.
Shafqat Ameen was robbed of Rs250,000 at gunpoint in Raiwind police area, while two motorcyclists deprived Nadeem of Rs100,000 in Lytton Road police precincts.
Mujahid told the Faisal Town Police that he was robbed of Rs33,000 and a mobile phone at gunpoint by two motorcyclists. Two gunmen deprived Waqas of Rs30,000 in Baghbanpura Police area.
Similarly, two robbers stopped a motorcyclist in Satu Katla police area. The victim identified as Afzal was deprived of Rs 60,000 and a cellular phone. Two armed bandits stopped Khuram in Badami Bagh area. He was robbed of Rs90,000 and a mobile phone at gunpoint.
Two motorcyclists snatched away Rs70,000 from Shakeel in Wahdat Colony Police limits while Hassan was robbed of Rs100,000 and a mobile phone in the limits of Batapur Police.
Thieves broke into Khalid’s house in Mustafabad Police area and fled after collecting electronics worth tens of thousands of rupees.
Meanwhile, two cars were stolen away from Ichhra and Sanda police area. At least eight motorcycles were driven away from Shafiqabad, Bhaati Gate, Mughalpura, Township, Nawab Town, South Cantonment, Ghaziabad, Ichhra, and Iqbal Town police areas.
