LAHORE - PPP Punjab President Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo has blamed the misdirected policies of the government responsible for the lingering energy crisis, hitting hard on every development sector of the country.
In a statement on Saturday, Wattoo stated that that the energy crisis had caused Pakistan huge loss, adding that no concrete steps had been taken by the incumbent government to overcome the problem. “With strenuous efforts, our country achieved the GSP+ status, but this government is not taking full advantage of the opportunity,” he added.
Wattoo also criticised the government for its inaction about the rehabilitation of the infrastructure in the flood-hit areas. He said that the roads in flood-hit areas were in shambles, adding that the government was not paying attention despite claims of allocating billions of rupees for the purpose. He further said that many areas of the province were still inundated by floodwater and the inhabitants were facing health and travelling issues.
PML-Q to plan its future:PML-Q will hold a meeting today to discuss the reorganisation of party, in a bid to take part in any future electoral exercise whether it would be local bodies’ polls or midterm elections. According to PML-Q central information secretary Kamil Ali Agha, the political party would hold a meeting to discuss various plans concerning the reorganisation of the party after the first phase of Muharramul Haram.
The meeting would be chaired by PML-Q senior leader and Punjab president Pervaiz Elahi and participated by MPs, district leaders and former ticket holders. About the reports of meeting between the PML-Q leadership and PAT’s, he said that no such plan was in place in Sunday’s meet.
