Man tortured to death

LAHORE – A 45-year-old man was found tortured to death in the Tibbi City area, police said on Tuesday.
Police investigators said the man, yet to be identified, was lying dead on the road near Darbar Baba Shah Wali ground as they reached the spot. Some passers-by spotted the dead body and contacted the police by phone.
Investigators said unidentified killers tortured the man, strangled him and later fled away after throwing his dead body in the ground. The police have removed the dead body to the morgue for autopsy. The police have also registered a murder case against unidentified killers on the complaint of one Aslam, a gardener at the shrine. Further investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, a 70-year-old man, who was admitted to a local hospital the other day, died there on Tuesday, Ichhra police said. Police said the man, unidentified so far, was lying unconscious near Ichhra Shopping Centre three day ago. He was admitted to the hospital, where he died on Tuesday. The police have removed the dead body to the morgue for autopsy.
WAPDA EMPLOYEE KILLED: Also, a Wapda employee was killed while his brother seriously wounded when a rashly driven truck smashed into their two-wheeler in the North Cantonment area, police and rescue workers said on Tuesday.
Ashfaq Ali along with his brother Kashif Ali, riding on a motorcycle, was on their way to Ring Road when a recklessly driven truck hit their two-wheeler from the rear side. Both the brothers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a local hospital, where Ashfaq Ali was pronounced dead. The condition of Kashif was reported to be critical until Tuesday night. Police said the two brothers were the residents of Al-Faisal Town and had been working as assistant linemen in Wapda.
The driver managed to escape from the crime scene while the police have impounded the truck and are investigating.
TRANSFER, POSTING: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) MUhammad Habib-ur-Rehman on Tuesday ordered transfers / postings of two police officers.
According to a notification, Suleman Sultan Rana, SSP Special Branch, has been transferred and posted as Principal Police Training College; while capt (r) Muhammad Faisal Rana has been closed to the Central Police Office. The IGP has also nominated Shariq Kamal Siddiqui, SSP Internal Accountability Division, as the focal person of Lahore Police.
