Five girls, two men kidnapped

LAHORE - At least seven people including five girls were kidnapped from different areas of the City on Thursday, police sources said. Sources close to the investigators revealed that Shahnaz, spouse of Liaqat Ali, resident of Hamdani Park and Shamim of the same locality were abducted by unidentified accused men in Kot Lakhpat area. Sources added that some accused boys including Kashif and Shahzad kidnapped a 13-year-old Shakela from Nawa-nkot police on Thursday. Meanwhile, a housewife namely Khalida Parveen, was kidnapped from Sherakot area and 17-year-old Sajida, a housemaid, was abducted from Gulshan Iqbal minutes after she left the home of her work by the accused men namely Saleem and Roman. In the mean time, some unidentified armed men made hostage a youth Mohsin and his driver in Garden Town and later shifted them at unknown place. A senior cop said that some cases were sensitive otherwise there might be a mutual understanding between the abducted victim girl and the kidnappers. He, however, said that police were framing a strict mechanism in order to expedite the process of investigations. 175 more wardens deputed at sensitive points City Traffic Police SSP (Operations) Cap (r) Ahmed Mobin has deputed 175 additional traffic wardens at important Shopping Centres, Trade Markets and other sensitive points in the City for smooth flow of traffic during the holy month of Ramazan. According to an official comm-uniqu issued on Thursday, the SSP directed the wardens to remain alert during rush hours. Ahmed Mobin further said that these wardens would discharge their duties till end of the coming Eid-ul-Fiter. The SSP also warned the wardens that a strict action would be initiated against negligent officers. Two found dead A 40-year-old unidentified man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Shadman police area on Thursday. Police said that the deceased, yet to be identified, was lying dead beside the main road. Some locals of the area spotted the body and informed the police about it. Police moved the body to city morgue for autopsy. Meanwhile, a 25-year-old youth was found dead in Sherakot area. Police said that deceased, yet to be identified, was lying dead in a park near Babu Sabu interchange. Locals of the said locality informed the police about the body. The police reached the spot and moved the body to mortuary for autopsy. Police also made numerous announcements in the locality but none of the local came to claim the body. Students, NGOs protest killing of two brothers A large number of students of different schools, colleges and workers of various NGOs staged a massive protest demonstration against the brutal killing of two brothers Moghees and Moneeb in Sialkot. The students and workers including women participated in this protest held here at Liberty Chowk on Thursday. The participants were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the police and the eyewitnesses. They also blocked the road for some time and strongly condemned the tragic incident of killing of two brothers. The protestors demanded of the government to award severe punishment to all the accused involved in this incident. They said that the police officials involved in this tragic incident should be dismissed immediately. The students appreciated the role of media in this regard.
