LAHORE - A delegation led by Naib Ameer Jamat-e-Islami, Liaqat Baloch called on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at Chief Minister Secretariat, here today. Political issues as well as regional situation came under discussion during the meeting. Talking to the delegation, the chief minister said that Pakistan is facing threats on internal and external fronts and the whole nation will have to unite on a single platform by sinking its differences. He said that India should refrain for leveling baseless allegations against Pakistan and solve all issues through negotiations in the interest of a durable peace in the region. He said that Pakistan is a peaceful and responsible nuclear power and wants lasting peace in the region, however, if any one tried to impose war Pakistani nation will stand as a rock in the defense of the country and foiling the designs of the enemy. He said that terrorism, extremism and militancy are hurdles in the progress of the country and national consensus is the prime need of the hour to cope with all problems. He said that Pakistan is our homeland and we will have to transform it in accordance with the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam and ensure supremacy of law and constitution as well as justice. He said that we will have to make Pakistan strong and invincible by utilizing our own resources instead of relying on others. He said that we will have to promote simplicity and austerity and reduce non-developmental expenditure. He said that financial discipline is being strictly ensured in the province and not a single car has been purchased during the last eight months. Dr Fareed Ahmed Paracha and Ahsan Ullah Waqas were also present on the occasion. Minister briefs CM about development projects Federal Minister for Defense, Ch Ahmad Mukhtar called on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif at Chief Minister's Secretariat, her today. Matters of mutual interest as well as national issues came under discussion during the meeting. The chief minister informed Ahmad Mukhtar about developmental projects initiated in Punjab for raising living standard of the people and his priorities in this regard. He said substantial resources were being utilised for providing health, education, potable water and other basic amenities to the people. Moreover Food Support Programme for poor and indigent people is being successfully implemented in the province. Similarly, he said, an endowment fund had been established with an amount of Rs2 billion to help position-holder students continue their studies in Pakistan or abroad.
