LAHORE – The candidates of Model Town Group Sahibzada Saifur Rehman Khan has been elected president of Model Town Society by defeating the candidate of Unity Group for the same slot, Muteen Rana in a close contest with a difference of 102 votes.
The winning candidate Sahibzada Saifur Rehman Khan secured 1162 votes while Rana Muteen Secured 1060 votes. For the slot of vice president, Dawood Bari of Model Town Group defeated Mushtaq Ahmad Dhillon of Unity Group and has been elected vice president by securing 1182 votes.
The polling started at10:00 am and continued till 6:00pm in Model Town Society elections. Out of total 3926 registered votes, 2222 voters cast their votes and 10 polling booths were set up each for male and female voters.
These two rival groups, Model Town Group (MTG) and Unity Group (UG) fielded two candidates each for the slots of president and vice-president, respectively, while the cooperatives department appointed an officer to act as secretary of the society.
There were 20 various slots of the management committee for which both the rival groups fielded candidates, separately. Among those, elected as members of Management Committee included Faizur Rehman elected securing (102) votes, Dr Abdul Rehman (97), Riaz ur Rehman 104, Kaleem ur Rehman 139, Wajahat Ali 138, Akbar Islampuri 160, Riaz ur Rehman 140, Rana Ishtiaq 121, sardar Ayaz Khan 164, Ch Zulfiqar 153, Iftekhar Ali Khan 119, Junaid Sarwar, 93, Farrukh Saeed 132, Abdul Waheed Mir 122, Faizuddin 124, Irfan Mehmood 104, Kashif Mehmood 76, Malik Muhammad Anjum 62, Mrs Naila Anjum 122 and Akram Bandyal 79.
Former District Nazim Mian Amir Mehmood and other dignitaries also cast their votes.
