Ex-Pakistan leave sought for doctors

LAHORE The Provincial Council of Pakistan Medical Association has demanded the government to announce a special salary package for doctors to stop the brain drain. A council meeting was held at PMA House with Dr Ashraf Nizami in the chair. The PMAs from various districts participated in the meeting. The council, through a resolution, urged the Punjab government to issue Ex-Pakistan leave without pay to the 240 doctors appointed by the Saudi Ministry of Health. It further said that the establishment of health care commission should be done is consultation with the stake holders. The PMA also condemned the torture on the doctors at Nishter Hospital Multan and Services Hospital Lahore and further demanded that security be provided to all the hospitals of Punjab to avoid such incidences in future. PMA office bearers also demanded extension in current charge appointments.
