Imran on judicial remand

LAHORE - A local judicial magistrate Rai Nawaz Marth on Friday sent suspended DSP Imran Babar Jamil on judicial remand in three cases of professional misconduct and disobedience registered with Mochi Gate police. The magistrate also granted his one-day physical remand to Islampura police in another case of wearing uniform of Inspector General Police illegally. The DSP was produced before the court amidst tight security as media persons were also barred from approaching him. However, counsel of the DSP managed his talk with media wherein he accused police of torturing him in custody at the behest of SP CIA Umar Virk. The DSP, who had accused two SPs of pressurising him to release robbers, said that he had been subjected to severe torture in police lockup. He appealed to lawyers and civil society to support his cause against highhandedness of police for which he was being victimised. Advocate Zahid Chaudhry and Irshad Baig, DSPs counsel, also filed an application for his medical checkup and the magistrate directed the police to get the same done.
