Dacoits kill father of two


LAHORE – Dacoits shot dead a 30-year-old man on offering resistance during house-robbery in the Hanjarwal police limits while robbers continued their looting spree and made of with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth millions of rupees besides three motorcycles, police sources claimed on Saturday.
Six dacoits barged into the house of Abdul Majid in Murgzar Colony and started looting. As the family members offered resistance and made hue and cry, the bandits opened fire. As a result, Muhammad Ashraf, 30, and Muhammad Arshad, 28, sons of Abdul Majid, sustained bullet injuries and were rushed to a local hospital, where Ashraf was pronounced dead. Father of two, Ashraf, offered resistance when the bandits opened fire at gunpoint  However, the robbers fled away. The condition of Arshad was also reported to be critical till filing of this report. The police have registered the case and are investigating with no arrest made so far.
In another incident, five dacoits stormed into a house in Defense Housing Authority and made off cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs one million. The police are investigating.
Robbers snatched away gold ornaments worth Rs10 million from a jewellery shop situated in Dharampura area while gunmen held up a motorcyclist in Kot Lakhpat police area and snatched away his mobile phone and purse, containing thousands of rupees.
Dacoits also snatched away three motorcycles from Ichra, Nishtar Colony, and Defense-A police area while two gunmen held up one Amir in Ghaziabad police area and deprived him of his mobile phone and purse, containing Rs4,000.
