LAHORE - Condemning torture of a duty doctor at THQ Hospital Samundari by a treasury MPA, medics bodies have demanded the government take notice of the incident and award exemplary punishment to the culprits. At a meeting held at PMA House on Monday with Dr Tanveer Anwer in the chair, the participants condemned the act of a treasury MPA and demanded registration of a criminal case. The office bearers urged Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to intervene and take action against the MPA. The provincial council meeting of PMA Punjab will be called to decide further line of action. Young Doctors Association Punjab office bearer Dr Khurram said that it was impossible for doctors to work under such circumstances. He demanded action against MPA and his accomplices for torturing a doctor for not standing up when he arrived. Pledge Punjab Health Department has decided to retain 250 adhoc doctors in the next fiscal year. A spokesman for the Health Department has said that no doctor would be terminated and 250 working on adhoc basis would continue service in next fiscal year.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
