LAHORE - Late Makdoom Amin Faheem was an invaluable asset for the PPP and his passing away was a setback to the politics of decency, democracy and loss of Pakistan, said Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo in his opening statement at the condolence meeting of Punjab Executive Committee and Punjab Council held here Yesterday under his chair to pay tributes to the party leader.
He added that his holding of the highest position of the PPPP was the physical manifestation of the trust reposed by the top leadership of the Party and he undoubtedly proved worthy of the same.
Amin Faheem rejected without second thought the irresistible offers by the usurpers to become the chief executive of the country adding he held the cause of democracy and allegiance to the Party and its leadership unequivocally, he maintained. Tasneem Qureshi said that the deceased was a good human being and a thorough human inspiration. Dr Bangish maintained that he scuttled all the conspiracies of the Establishments pertaining to minus one formulas. Ghulam Fraid Kadia paid rich tributes by describing that the late did not leave the Party and democracy in lurch at any moment. Suhail Malik said that the deceased expressed his deepest regards when he kissed the hands of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto when he went to inquire about his health.
Chaudhry Aslam Gill maintained that Amin Faheem was a role model of decent politics. Aureng Zeb Burki added that the deceased that he rejected the offer of General Musharraf without slightest hesitation.
Iftikhar Shahid advocate said that Amin Faheem proved himself as custodian of PPP ideals with conviction. Tanvir Ashraf Kaira said that the deceased had left indelible prints on the country’s politics adding that his victory in eight successive elections spoke volumes of his popularity in his home constituency.
After the condolence meeting while talking to media, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo stated that the PPP was in the process of staging comeback rapidly as was evident from the local bodies’ elections results held in two phases. The PPP candidates have won elections in Lala Musa, Kasur, Pakpatttan, Khanka Dogran, Gunjranwala, Mandibahuddin, Sahiwal under the Party symbol.
He condemned the discriminatory application of accountability and urged that it should be across the board. Double standards of accountability are not acceptable which are evident in case of province of Sindh as Punjab is being treated as sacred cow, he argued.
