Sportsmen scheme launched

LAHORE Pakistan Army has launched an 'Army Young Boys Sportsmen Scheme with the objective to pick talented young sportsmen of below 14 in varioaus games. According to a press release issued here on Sunday, the scheme was launched on special instructions by Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani wherein the selected teenage sportsmen will be provided the facilities including stipends, free education and coaching in various sports disciplines. In this regard, nowadays Army Sports Directorate is busy in selecting youth under the talent hunt scheme from rest of the county. The selection committee has so far visited Gilgit, Skardu, Mardan, Peshawar, Attock, Chakwal, Minawali, Sargodha, Faisal-abad, Toba Tek Singh, Sialkot, Shahargrh, Lahore and Kasur. Another team will visit Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur, Karachi, Quetta and Gujjar Khan during the months of September and October. The sports disciplines for selection included athletics, boxing, martial arts, hockey and squash.
