Awareness campaign on gas balloons

LAHORE  - Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister on Health Kh Salman Rafiq has said that the government would launch an awareness campaign regarding hazards of gas balloons.
Talking to media after inquiring about the health of children injured in gas balloons explosion at Jinnah Hospital on Sunday, he said that the government has provided financial assistance to the heirs of deceased boy, besides those injured in gas balloons explosion. Secretary Health Punjab Dr Ijaz Munir, Prof Moazam Nazir Tarar, Medical Superintendent Dr Abdul Rauf and EDO Health Lahore Dr Zulfiqar were also present. At present 14 wounded boys are still under treatment.
Kh Salman Rafiq said that all the patients were receiving best medical treatment at a private ward under the supervision of Prof Moazam Nazir Tarar. He said that the condition of injured were better. He assured that awareness campaigns regarding hazards of pricking gas balloons would be started soon. He said that financial assistance of rupees five lakh and fifty thousand has been given to the family of deceased boy, whereas Rs1 lakh each has been provided to all other injured persons.
Prof Moazam Nazir Tarar informed that cases of gas balloons explosion were brought to the hospital every month. He said that at birth day parties and elsewhere. He stressed the need for creating awareness among the people to avoid such practice for their own safety.
Earlier, Kh Salman Rafiq visited private ward and inquired after the health of patients.
Monitoring system: Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister on Health Kh Salman Rafiq on Sunday said that an effective monitoring system has been evolved to keep an eye on the provision of medical facilities from Basic Health Units to Tehsil and District hospitals round the clock.
Addressing a function organised by Paramedical Staff Association, Lahore General Hospital in the honor of Christian employees in connection with celebration of Easter, he said that the policy has helped not only in reducing burden on teaching hospitals but also saved public from an inconvenience.
Salman Rafiq said the govt had introduced Health Insurance Programme in backward districts of the province to confer better medical cover to citizens.
Addressing participants, Prof Anjum Habob Vohra said that all staff of the hospital was equally sharing the happy moments of Easter with their Christian brethren. He said that the Christian community has earned great honor for serving in the fields of education and health.
