HNPIP seminar


LAHORE: Hameed Nizami Press Institute of Pakistan is organising a seminar on ‘Imperatives of bringing crisis-ridden Pakistan on the track of peace and progress’ at HNPIP Auditorium near China Chowk on Thursday. Security beefed up
LAHORE: Security has been intensified around key government installations particularly police headquarters in Lahore, a day after cracker blasts left two policemen wounded outside the Police Motor Transport workshops on Ferozepur Road.
Police patrolling has been also stepped up around important buildings and in the sensitive areas in the provincial metropolis, police sources said.–Staff Reporter
Unidentified motorcyclist threw two crackers at the main gate of the workshop on Sunday. As a result, two policemen who were on-guard at the entrance were injured and rushed to the Services Hospital. Later, they were identified as Rashid and Khalid. The Garden Town police have registered a case against unidentified men and are investigating.

Books distribution drive
LAHORE: The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has completed books distribution drive in Punjab on Monday with distribution of more than eight lakh books in 506 school partners belonging to Lahore, Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Kasur, Nankana sahib and Sheikhupura in the last phase of the distribution drive. A total of six million textbooks were distribution in four thousand partner schools in 36 districts.–Staff Reporter

PEF set up 20 books distribution points in different districts to facilitate the school partners. PEF Director (Finance) Kamran Hafeez was made convener of the committee to supervise the distribution.
Under supervision of the PEF Chairman, Qamarul Islam Raja, a computerised books distribution system was launched to ensure timely and efficient distribution of books.
