2 more killed in ‘encounter’


LAHORE – The City Police gunned down two alleged criminals during a fake encounter in the Factory Area Police limits on early Monday, police sources said.
The identification of the alleged gangsters, said to be in police custody for the last several days, had not been disclosed by the police to the media yet. Police claimed that two robbers were killed during crossfire, which took place at Ghazi Road; while another two managed to escape. According to police, no cop was hurt during the crossfire. The police shifted the bodies to the City morgue.
Police said two gunmen were fleeing after looting a family on gunpoint in the Defence-A police area when a police team intercepted them near a picket in the Factory Area Police precincts. The robbers opened fire on the policemen, which triggered an encounter. Two robbers were found shot dead when the fire stopped, said Factory Area SHO Rashid Amin Butt, adding another two robbers fled away.
MURDERED: A mother of four children was stabbed to death by her close relatives on the suspicion of having illicit relations in the Nawan Kot Police limits on Monday. Shazia Bibi, said to be wife of Babar Masih, was repeatedly stabbed by her relatives at her residence in Kot Kumboh.
CRUSHED: A 30-year-old man was crushed to death under a train near railway crossing in Harbanspura area on Monday. Police said Muhammad Imran, riding a bicycle, was crossing the railway track when suddenly his two-wheeler got stuck and the train hit him resulting in his death.
