Security at red alert for Zuljinnah

LAHORE - Security has been put at red alert to maintain law and order situation during the mourning processions here on Monday (today) in the provincial metropolis. A large number of police contingents have been deployed at the most sensitive points including Nisar Haveli, Chuhata Musfti Bakir Chowk, Rang Mahal, Moti Bazaar, Gumti Bazaar, Shah Alam Chowk, Lohari Gate, Bhati Chowk and Karbala Gamay Shah in the City. Almost 27,000 police personnel have been deployed at different districts and at most sensitive points across the Punjab. On the other side, various representatives of Ahl-e-Tashe have expressed their satisfaction over security measures for mourning processions made by the Lahore police. Talking to The Nation, Ulema said that the CCPO, SSP Operations, and all the SPs have extended their efforts to fulfill the security arrangements. Zuljinnah, Tazia processions taken out The 9th Muharram Zuljinnah and Tazia processions were brought out in a number of localities in the City on Sunday memorising the martyrdoms of Shuhda-e-Karbala. Earlier, eminent Ulema and Zakirs addressed the Aza meetings and threw light on the tragedy of Karbala at various meetings. The mourning processions were brought out from Aza Khana, Islampura, Khaima-e-Sadaat at Edward Road, New Anarkali, Aza Khana Gulistan-e-Zahra at Abbot Road, Shadman Gulberg, Mahala Shian inside Mochi Gate, Karbala Gamay Shah at Lower Mall, Imamia Colony and Thokar Niaz Baig. Hundreds and thousands of mourners accompanied the processions, who were beating their chests and reciting Nuhas. The Ulema and Zakirs who addressed at different occasions in the City at various places include: Gulfam Hussain Hashmi, Kamal Haider Rizvi, Allama Nasir Abbas and Zakir Shajar Hussain Shajar.
