LAHORE – Agitated by police refusal to register FIRs despite court orders, the Lahore High Court on Tuesday summonned Punjab Inspector General of Police on Dec 28 to explain any reasons for police abjuracy.
“About hundred petitions having the contentions that police are not complying the courts orders are under proceedings before the LHC, which shows that it has become a practice of police not to obey the court order,” Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked while hearing two identical petitions seeking actions against police officials for not comply the orders issued by subordinate judiciary.
In first petition, Mohammad Inaam Ali pleaded that he was working as chief financial officer in Sammi logistics (pvt) ltd and was also rendering services as country general manager of Daewoo Pakistan Express, sister company of Sammi logistics. Due to some differences, he resigned from the office of country general manger, petitioner stated. But, directors of the company prepared a forged and fabricated document showing that petitioner resigned from all the offices being enjoyed by him in Sammi logistics (pvt) limited, Mr Ali further stated.
He contended that he approached the sessions court which directed the SHO Gulberg Station and ASP concerned to record the statement of petitioner and act in accordance with law on his application seeking criminal cases against accused for spreading rumours about his resignation. However, police officials were not complying the court orders to register the case against accused persons nominated the application.
In second petition, Rahmat Masih contended that an additional district and sessions judge had directed the SHO North Cantt police station to register a case against accused persons who theft the documents related to his property. But, police not acting in accordance with law and the petitioner is wandering from here and there for justice.
After initial arguments, Justice Umar Ata Bandial directed the IG police to appear before the court by today for explanation that why police was not obeying the orders of the sessions court.
ORDER TO DEMOLISH MARKET WALLS: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed the Model Town assistant commissioner and market committee secretary to reopen the entry and exit points of Kot Lakhpat Fruit &Vegetable Market after demolishing the seven walls constructed by the City District Government.
Justice Mohmmad Ameer Bhatti was hearing a contempt of court petition seeking action against secretary market committee and assistant commission model town who had built the walls on all entry and exit points of the Kotlakhpat Fruit and Vegetable Market and stopped the shopkeepers from running their business. Petitioners Chaudhary Yaseen and others submitted that they were running business in the market according to rules and regulations.
