LAHORE – Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that public service is the mission of the Punjab government and it has practically proved that only the masses have the right over national resources. He said that a comprehensive programme is being implemented for raising the living standard and provision of basic amenities to the common man as well as bringing the deprived segments of the society into the mainstream of development.
He said that every step of the government is aimed at national progress and prosperity. He said that Pakistan will be steered out of crises, under the leadership of President PML(N) Mian Nawaz Sharif, and put it on the road to progress and development as per the dreams of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. The CM was talking to Assembly Members and PML-N office-bearers of various districts, here Tuesday. The CM said that Punjab government has adopted an effective strategy to eliminate poverty, ignorance and unemployment. He said that revolutionary measures taken for the development of education, health, agriculture, livestock and other sectors have yielded positive results. He said that Aashiyana housing project for the workers, labourers and low-income people has been started for the first time in the 64 years’ history of the country under which not only shelter has been provided to the common people and the poor but basic amenities on the pattern of residential societies of the rich have also been made available to them.
He said that the programme of distribution of one lakh laptops among talented boy and girl students with a cost of Rs.2 billion will soon be started. He said that measures have also been taken for the provision of employment opportunities to the youth and the skilled youth are being given interest-free loans for setting up their own business. Similarly, he said, Yellow Cab scheme has been initiated under which yellow cabs are being distributed among the youth in a transparent manner.
The Chief Minister said that more funds compared to the ratio of population have been allocated for the uplift of South Punjab and a larger quota has been earmarked for the youth of South Punjab under Yellow Cab Scheme as well. He said that a comprehensive programme is being implemented for the provision of modern and quality health services to the masses and promotion of medical education.
