PEPCO announces relief from load shedding during Sehr and Iftar

Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) has announced to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity at Sehr and Iftar timings during the Holy month of Ramazan. For this purpose PEPCO on Thursday announced new schedule of loadshedding following directives by the Prime Minister that there should be no loadshedding at Sehr and Iftar to facilitate the public. Director General PEPCO, Ijaz Rafique Qureshi talking to media persons here on Thursday said with newly prepared loadshedding plan for Ramazan, there would be non-stop power supply to domestic consumers across the country during two hours for Sehr and from 6:30pm to 11:00pm. The DG PEPCO said that the decision has been taken to facilitate the domestic consumers so that they were able to prepare meal for sehri and iftar and offer Taraveeh prayers without any trouble. He said that the government has released Rs 60 billion, to reduce the circular debt, pay arrears and to restore the electricity generation from power plants that were closed due to various reasons. The DG PEPCO hoped that power supply situation would improve after power plants would resume normal generation. In reply to a question, Ijaz Rafique Qureshi said that suspension of power supply for textile and other industries was temporary and they would be given relief shortly which would help them to increase production and exports.
