Sultry weather returns after rain


LAHORE – The City remained in the grip of sultry weather on Friday with experts predicting the prevailing conditions to persist during the next 24 hours.
Abundance of sunshine, high humidity and lack of winds made the weather oppressive, causing the Lahorites to sweat profusely throughout the day. On Friday, maximum and minimum temperature in the City was recorded 37 and 25 degree Celsius, 25 C respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 54 per cent.
The Lahore Canal, as usual, attracted a large number of people, including women and children. Not only the youth but also elderly people were seen bathing in the Canal. At certain places, even women were seen beating the heat by taking a dip in the mud-colour Canal water.
According to the experts, a seasonal low lies over northwest Balochistan and its trough is extending southeastwards. The Local meteorological department has forecast mainly hot and humid weather with chances of isolated showers for the City during the next 24 hours.
The met office has forecast rain / thundershower at isolated places in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, Malakand and Hazara, divisions; Kashmir; and Gilgit-Baltistan. Hot and dry weather is expected in other parts of the country.
