CM harps on flood rehab mantra

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the flood affectees will not be left in the lurch and their every need will be met.
Despite not feeling well, the chief minister reviewed flood situation, protective arrangements and relief activities in south Punjab and issued necessary instructions to Provincial Cabinet Committee on Flood and administrations concerned.
He said that Cabinet Committee on Flood and administrations of concerned districts should complete all protective arrangements in time to cope with flood.
He said that timely evacuation of the people of the areas where there is a threat of flood should be ensured and all out measures should be taken for the protection of life and property of citizens. He said that no excuse would be acceptable regarding safe evacuation of the people.
The chief minister directed that in view of floods, protective arrangements should be made on war footing and political and administrative teams should remain in the areas assigned to them and take necessary measures after reviewing the situation. He said that every need of the flood affected areas will be fulfilled.
Shahbaz Sharif said that flood affected people would not be left alone and all out resources are being utilised for their assistance. He said that every effort would be made to serve the affectees. He said that Pak Army, administration, police, Rescue-1122 and other concerned institutions are working in an active manner.
The chief minister while issuing instructions for accelerating relief activities in the flood affected villages of south Punjab said that abundant stock of necessary medicines should be available in medical camps. He said that additional boats should also be sent to the affected villages of south Punjab. He said that administrations and institutions of the concerned districts should extend maximum assistance to the affected persons.
He said that all out measures should be taken for providing relief to the people of the villages inundated by flood. He said that every effort should be made with regard to protective arrangements and relief activities. He said that flood affectees will be rehabilitated on the pattern of 2010.
The chief minister said that relief activities should be continued in the flood affected areas round the clock. He said that he is personally monitoring flood situation and relief activities.
Shahbaz Sharif was to visit flood affected areas of Layyah today but as he was not feeling well he could not go to Layyah. He will soon visit Layyah and meet the flood affectees.
