Data burnt in AG Office record room blaze



LAHORE – Furniture and important data were reduced to ashes when fire erupted in the AG Office Record Room on Tuesday, rescue workers said.
The firefighters cited short-circuit as reason for the blaze. The rescuers reached the spot and managed to put out the fire. The police have registered the case and are investigating.
Killed: A motorcyclist was killed and his friend sustained wounds when a rashly-driven car rammed into their bike near the Pakistan Rangers Headquarters on Tuesday, police said.
Rescuers said that Aftab died on the spot while Abbas was rushed to hospital in serious condition. Eyewitnesses told the police that a recklessly-driven car smashed into a motorcycle in the North cantonment police limits. An investigation was on.
Gangsters busted: Investigations police Faisal Town on Tuesday claimed to have smashed a gang of robbers by arresting its four members including the ringleader. The police have also recovered a car, 16 cellular phones, fake registration books and other valuables from their possession.
According to a police spokesman, a police team headed by ASP Garden Town arrested the bandits. During preliminary investigations, the robbers have confessed to 16 incidents of armed robberies that they had committed in different parts of the City. Police said that the arrested bandits are history-sheeters. DIG (Investigations) Ch Shafique has announced award for the police team.
