LAHORE - Punjab Governor Chaudhary Sarwar has said that Pakistan is a responsible state which has done a lot for the peace in world and the international community has already acknowledged its role in the war against terror.

He stated this during his meeting with European Union Ambassador Lars Gunnar Wigemark, who called on Sarwar at Governor House on Thursday.
The governor said that the war against terror had left unprecedented loss to the Pakistan’s economy and promoting bilateral trade with Pakistan is the best way to restore its economy. “The present government is making all out efforts to improve the national economy and investment-friendly policies are being formulated. Due to the prudent economic initiatives of the government foreign investors are taking keen interest in Pakistan and they will be provided full support in this regard,” he held.

“Democracy is the only solution to all the problems of Pakistan and consistency in this system is inevitable. Pakistan attracts the foreign investors in various social sectors especially there is lot of potential in energy and infrastructure. Government is taking keen interest in overcoming the energy shortage and various short term and long term measures have been taken for it,” Sarwar held.

Ch Sarwar said that the provision of GSP Plus in the EU markets would go a long way to boost our exports and our local industrialists are fully capable of taking advantage from this facility. He said only textile sector has tremendous potential and we can double our textile exports from 13 billion dollars to 26 billion dollars.

European Union Ambassador Lars Gunnar Wigemark said that provision of GSP Plus in EU markets was a great achievement which showed the trust and credibility of international community on the present government.
