Bullet-proof car for PM's wife

LAHORE - The Punjab government has reserved one bulletproof vehicle for wife of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, which will be provided to her on her visit to the Punjab. Source in the Services and General Administration Department revealed that out of the five bullet-proof cars - purchased by the previous provincial government led by Ch Pervaiz Elahi - one has been given to the NWFP government, one to the Governor Punjab and one has been reserved for Mr Gilani, while the remaining two are left for the visit of the VVIPs and foreign dignitaries. "This is for the first time that a bullet-proof car has been reserved for the first lady of Pakistan," added the source maintaining these five vehicles could not be auctioned, as the Punjab government could not get buyers. "After this, the government decided that instead of disposing off these vehicles at obviously cheaper rates, then it would have to spend more money on buying new ones if the need arises, better it would be that these should be held back," said the source.
