LAHORE  - Punjab NAB authorities Monday claimed to have arrested two accused including Yousaf Manjh, brother of former MNA, and Ghulam Mustafa Cheema, Ex-administrator Market Committee Gujranwala, over corruption charges.
Yousaf Manjh was involved in cheating public at large, accused in connivance with his business partners Muhammad Sharif, Ex-Police Inspector and his son Mohsin Bhatti, Rehmat Steel Mills, Lahore deprived investors of Rs 130 million.
Accused used to receive investments/raw material from market for his factory (New Rehmat Steel Mills), but did not pay for it.
Other accused Ghulam Mustafa Cheema, Ex-administrator Market Committee Gujranwala was arrested on the charges of illegal allotment of 25 plots to his family and friends amounting to Rs 15 million. The accused did not join inquiry/investigation, absconded himself from the proceedings and was declared proclaimed offender by the Accountability Court.
The accused during his tenure illegally allotted 25 plots of shops from growers quota to his associates in New Fruit and Vegetable Market, Nowshera Sansi Bypass Road, Gujranwala causing loss of Rs 12.5 million to the Market Committee, Gujranwala.
The accused also obtained 2 plots from the quota of commission agents in New Fruit market, in the names of two firms owned by the accused himself and his brother-in-law in clear violation of procedure laid down for allotment of plots.
The accused will be produced before the court today for physical remand to proceed further in the matter, the NAB spokesman concluded.
