LAHORE - Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Amin Wains on Friday said the Admin Officers received up to 12,000 complaints since the project was launched in Lahore’s police stations four months ago.
He said that the admin officers provided help to all the complainants so that their genuine grievances would be redressed and only 27 applications are pending and inquiry is being conducted in this regard.
The CCPO stated this while presiding over a meeting held to review the performance of the admin officers at the Police Lines Qila Gujjar Singh. DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf, DIG (Investigation) Sultan Chaudhry, SP CIA Muhammad Umar Virk and the divisional SPs were also present on the occasion.
He said that admin officers were showing good performance since they are committed to service the public. “A citizen Jahanzab who went to the Gulberg police station was so impressed with the behavior of the policemen that he came to my office with flowers to express his gratitude,” the Lahore police chief said.
He said that if the staff of all police stations displayed the same attitude, the criminal elements would find no place to hide. The CCPO said that it is only through giving respect that you get respect in return. He said that police have to pay respect to the citizens visiting the police stations. He said that beat officers are being provided android phones and modern technology for maintaining law and order and admin officer would have to work as master-trainers for imparting training to beat officers and constables in the use of modern technology.
The CCPO said that the purpose of beat system is to provide justice to people at their doorstep and to promote a sense of security among the citizens.
He said that beat officers performing their duty with commitment and efficiency would be encouraged at every level while those showing negligence would find no room in the department.
