Foolproof security for Milad urged

LAHORE – The religious organizations tasked to organise the central Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) procession in the City have demanded foolproof security and revision of previous plan.
Addressing a press conference here at Lahore Press Club on Saturday, Chairman Milad Committee Ashfaq Qadri suggested checking of vehicles at a central point instead of undue searching at the place of their entering the main procession. Sh Muhammad Ikram, Hamid Anjum, Allama Raza-e-Mustafa Naqshbandi, Muhammad Ali Naqshbandi, Mufti Haseeb Qadri, Hafiz Masood Ahmad, Naseem Kashmiri and Shahid Ahmed were also present.
Ashfaq Qadri said lovers of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) joining the procession from far away places in tractor trolleys, bull carts, motorcycles, trucks, jeeps, pick-ups and other vehicles face unnecessary hurdles while going through the security checks at different points.
This attitude of the Police, he said, significantly reduce the number of participants in the procession which was a disservice to the cause of Islam. Sh Ikram demanded provision of necessary security equipment and detectors to the procession management and volunteers.  He said this year’s procession would be inaugurated by Sahabzada Najeeb Sultan, custodian of Sultanul Arfeen Haq Bahoo shrine while other affairs would be overseen by Pir Mukarram Ali Shah, custodian of Shah Muhammad Ghaus shrine. He said the flag hoisting would be performed by IG Punjab.
