15 mins of aviation business paralysis



LAHORE – Due to power breakdown at Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIAP), aviation business came to halt for 5 to 10 minutes when the radar was under scheduled inspection and repair, a CAA officer said while talking to The Nation on Monday.
He said that there was a fault in the radar for quite a short time and then everything was normal. He said that on Monday Aviation Engineers started inspection of the radar at AIIAP at 9.00 am and radar was closed for operation from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and the operation was shifted to manual system. He said that during maintenance due to electricity failure radar went out of order and it took 25 minutes to be functional again.
In the meanwhile according to an engineer the takeoff and landing of flights were shifted to manual system and three flights were delayed by 5 to 10 minutes. He said that everything else of the airport was running normal.
