Commissioner orders action against misuse of vehicles


LAHORE – Lahore Division Commissioner Jawad Rafiq Malik has ordered strict action against those officers who are found involved in using official vehicles of the Dengue Brigade for personal purposes.
Malik also directed to hold regular meetings of the Emergency Response Committee at all TMA offices and warned that non-complying officers will be terminated. He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting regarding the anti-dengue arrangements at the Commissioner’s Office on Thursday.
The Lahore commissioner said that instead of creasing harassment among the public, measures should be adopted for creating awareness among them. He directed Health Department officers to pay special attention to larva surveillance. “High-risk areas of the previous year should be monitored continuously and photographic reports of the work done so far should be submitted on daily basis so that arrangements could be made on emergency basis,” Malik ordered.
The Lahore commissioner also directed town officers to constitute special teams for the inspection of tyre shops and for strict compliance of anti-dengue regulations. He also directed to submit report of cleanliness of warehouses situated in all towns after carrying out a survey.
MOONSOON ARRANGEMENTS: Lahore Division Commissioner Jawad Rafiq Malik has issued orders to cancel leaves of the concerned staff and to fix their round-the-clock duties in case of any emergency in the monsoon season. He was presiding over a meeting held to review the pre-monsoon arrangements at the Commissioner’s Office.
The meeting was also attended by DCOs of all the four districts, and officers of police, irrigation, WASA, LDA, PHA, LWMC and other departments. He asked the officers to prepare a plan through which any emergent situation could be handled.
The Commissioner also directed the Civil Defence and Rescue 1122 to remain alert. He further directed the officers to make alternative arrangement of machinery, including disposal pumps and generators, for smooth flow of rain water from the low lying areas. He directed the officers of health department to make available the first aid medical equipment, medicines and vaccines in all basic health centres.
PARKING PLAZA ON THE MALL: Lahore DCO Noor-ul-Amin Mengal has said that a proposal for the construction of a parking plaza on The Mall. He added that after consultation with the trader on The Mall, a proper place for parking plaza would be identified at Hall Road or near the Alfalah building.
The DCO also ordered CDGL official to start operation against encroachments at The Mall and directed the town administration to confiscate all goods during the operation. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting with the Mall Road Trader Association. On this occasion, Mall Road Trader Association president Sohail Butt and other office-bearers were also present.
The DCO said that if any staff of the CDGL was found taking bribe during the operation, then a case would be registered against him with the anti-corruption police. He added that all banners should be removed from The Mall and there should be a single lane parking so that the beauty of the road could be restored.
