LAHORE - Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri is arriving at Lahore airport on Monday morning (today).
The PAT has arranged some 200 guards of a private company who would provide security to Dr Qadri, rejecting the Punjab government’s offer in this regard.
The PAT on Sunday said that Dr Qadri would be given warm welcome by the party leaders and activists at the airport. Later, Dr Qadri would move towards his residence at Model Town.
The security agencies have warned the Pakistan Awami Tehreek leader of serious terror threats from Taliban.
A private TV channel quoting its sources in the security agencies reported that a suicide bomber could hit the PAT chief’s convey.
Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah had earlier warned of similar threats which were rejected by the PAT leadership.
The party spokesperson said that Dr Tahirul Qadri has faced severe threats from the Punjab government.
Pakistan Awami Tehreek president Raheeq Abbasi on Sunday reiterated that the party members would ensure security of their leader rejecting the Punjab government’s favour.
“We can’t accept security from those who are the murderer of the PAT innocent workers and nominated accused of the Model Town incident,” said Abbasi referring indirectly to Rana Sana and Punjab police.
Moreover, a central working committee of the PAT finalised arrangements in connection with warm welcome of its leader. The PAT chief left Heathrow airport on Saturday night and reached Dubai on Sunday night from where he will reach Lahore.
