LAHORE - Following directions from Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to take action against Secretary Assembly Rai Mumtaz Hussain for his sons’ involvement in a scuffle with a traffic wardon on Thursday, the speaker sent the official on forced leave for one month. As per Assembly sources, the speaker summoned the secretary assembly in office and asked him to proceed on one –month leave. Additional Secretary Legislation Ch Shafique Aadil has been given additional charge of the post. Meanwhile as per an official handout, taking strict notice of the incident of violence against a traffic warden by the sons of secretary assembly, the chief minister has ordered removal of top official from his post. The chief minister said that supremacy of law would be ensured at any cost and violation of law will not be tolerated under any circumstances. It may be mentioned that Rai Afzal and Rai Najaf, sons of the secretary Punjab Assembly, along with four others had tortured the traffic warden Waqas at Ferozepur Road in the jurisdiction of Lyton Road Police Station when they were stopped for violating the one way law on Thursday. An FIR was registered against the accused following which two sons of the Secretary Assembly were taken into custody on Friday and produced before the court of law which admitted them to bail. The police are looking for the rest of the four persons who were also involved in beating of warden who claimed that the accused had also hurled life threats on him during torture.This news was published in The Nation newspaper.
