'N took City girl students to Faisalabad rally, LHC hears

LAHORE The Lahore High Court on Monday sought reply on a writ petition seeking action against officials of education department for taking girl students of a Lahore school in the PML-N rally in Faisalabad. Advocate Mohammad Asim Cheema filed a petition and submitted that Lahore Executive District Officer (EDO), Pervaiz Akhtar, deputed teachers and some staff members of the said school of Model Town Lahore under the supervision of DEO Sajid Hussain, AEO Abdul Majid and headmistress of Government Model Girls High School, Model Town , Mrs Munawar Tabassum, to take along a busload of students to sing national and political songs at Dhobi Ghaat on November 20. The petitioner stated that transport and other expenses were arranged by schools education department. The petitioner pleaded that driving the girl students like a herd of goats forcing them for political performance from early morning till late night was not only polluting the minds of girls but also objectionable by the public and frustrating parents. He submitted that the political posses of the respondents had nothing at stake in the public sector educational institutional as their children were generally studying abroad or in elite schools in the country. The petitioner requested the court to declare the act of the respondents as illegal and unlawful and initiate judicial inquiry to fix the responsibility of the act. He further prayed for suspension of Pervaiz Akhtar and action under PEEDA Act 2006 against all officials of government department.
