Babu repeats health reforms mantra

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema said that health sector reforms and provision of best facilities to the citizens was top priority of the government and all out resources would be utilized for this purpose.
He was presiding over a meeting regarding health sector reforms at Civil Secretariat on Friday. Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister on Health Kh Salman Rafiq, Secretary Health Jawad Rafiq Malik, Director General Health Dr Zahid Pervaiz, elected representatives, Chief of CM Health Roadmap Progamme Ijaz Akhtar, Chief of PITB Umar Saif, VC KEMU Prof Faisal Masood, principals of various colleges, senior medical experts and officers of concerned departments attended the meeting.  Seven groups preparing recommendations for resolving problems of government hospitals presented presentations for the improvement in various fields in the meeting.
Salman Rafiq said that government was spending Rs 102 billion for the provision of treatment facilities to the masses. He said that additional resources would be provided for implementation of recommendations for the reformation of health sector.
The chief secretary issued instructions for provision of security and taking stern action under the law against the elements involved in violence against polio workers. He appreciated the hard work and professional commitment of senior medical experts, public representatives and officers who formulated recommendations for the uplift of health sector.
He said that these recommendations would soon be presented to Chief Minister Punjab for approval after which their implementation would be started.
