LAHORE - Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq has said that Pakistan wants peace in the region and by no means it favours war with India.
Talking to media after laying foundation stone of a school at Chong Khurd yesterday, the minister said that Pakistan was against putting at risk the lives of 1.5billion people of the region by going to war with India. He asked India to also frame its policies on the same lines to promote peace and stability in the region and peacefully resolving the issues as war was no solution to that.
On the atrocities being committed by Modi government on minorities in India, Saad said the acts of his administration had made him enemy of his own country fellows which spoke volume of the public reaction to what it was meting out to minorities in India. The minister added that Modi government had caused such a loss to India which even its enemies could not have done.
On electricity shortfall, the minister squarely held Musharraf and Zardari governments responsible for the crisis and said had their respective government since 2002 done least to generate power, the country would not have faced the current situation.
However, he said the PML-N government was seriously dealing with the problem and was set to end loadshedding in 2017 when the power generation projects would be completed and thousands of megawatts of electricity would be added into the system.
On operation against terrorism, the minister appreciated role of the armed forces and said their actions and sacrifices had broken the backbone of ill-doers. He said in Karachi target killers and extortionists were finding no place to hide and the government was determined to continue operation till end of the last criminal notwithstanding the fact certain people had reservations on their arrest and action against them.
Saad claimed target killers and extortionists in Karachi had almost been eliminated and the city was again glowing with lights.
The PML-N leader added the government was accountable to Allah Almighty and the people as such it would do whatever was in the largest interest of the country.
Supplementing it with a question on PTI Chairman Imran Khan, the minister said he was a victim of jealousy and was not accountable to anyone as such he would go on playing. He blamed Khan for wasting precious time of the nation in dharna last year and said he would be answerable to that. Saad claimed the government was doing whatever was under its control to serve the masses.
“People love those who serve them and the love of the people with the government can be judged from the landslide victory of the PML-N in local bodies’ polls,” he said beaming with the optimism to win the third phase of LB elections in Punjab keeping the same rhythm of success.
