LHC moved against Kims allegations

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court praying for a direction to Pakistans top intelligence agency to hold an inquiry into the allegations levelled by American reporter Kim Barker against PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif. The petition also prayed that the Foreign Ministry be directed to lodge a strong protest against the allegations to America. Advocate Masood Gujjar filed the petition stating that the allegations of sexual harassment by the lady reporter of the Chicago Tribune was a part of character assassination campaign against Mian Nawaz Sharif for taking a bold stance in case of CIA contractor Raymond Davis. The petitioner requested the court to take action on the matter. He pleaded that the ISI be directed to hold an inquiry into the allegations and submit its report before the court. It may be recalled that Kim Barker, who covered Afghanistan and Pakistan for Chicago Tribune starting in 2003, claimed that she was propositioned by Nawaz Sharif when she met him for an interviews for her newspaper. In her recently released book The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan, Barker says she received unusual attention from Nawaz Sharif when she met him to do her job in Afghanistan and Pakistan. She claimed that Nawaz Sharif gave her an Apple iphone as a gift and asked her to be his special friend.
