Lahore: IMPACT Institute is organizing a seminar on April 30th 2016 to create awareness about Autism in Lahore. Autism is a mental condition present from early childhood. It is characterized by great difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people and in using language and abstract concepts. Research by Dr. Shazia Maqbool; Children Hospital, indicates that in Pakistan one in every fifty children has Autism.
The seminar will have a series of talks highlighting the importance of understanding Autism, recognizing signs such as impairment in social interaction and communication, how Autism can be managed and parental guidance for those with children having Autism.
Speaking about the seminar, Director of IMPACT and Autism Care Centre, MalihaLatifAsad said, “April is Global Autism Awareness Month and we are arranging this event in Lahore to better understand the needs of children with Autism.”
Paintings of the children will also be displayed and sold at the event with the proceeds going to Autistic children.The seminar will be attended by different members of society.
