Performance of cops to be monitored: IG


LAHORE – Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman said on Wednesday that he was fully committed to rooting out corruption from the police department and an effective accountability system had been introduced to monitor the working and performance of cops.
According to an official handout issued from the Central Police Office (CPO), the provincial police chief stated this while addressing an open-court. Rawalpindi RPO Capt (r) Muhammad Zubair and other senior police officers were also present.
The IGP said the doors of his office were open for everybody and the genuine grievances of the complainants were being redressed on daily basis at the open-courts. He also directed the officers to provide justice to the poor and deserving people on their doorstep on priority basis.
The IGP said the crime rate was declining across the province since the police had implemented a comprehensive crime-fighting strategy.
