LAHORE - An Anti-Terrorism Court judge on Monday transferred a case to another court after it was proved that the Hadyara police booked PML-N workers under the Anti-Terrorism Act to please local PPP leadership.
The Butt and Ghurki families have been on rivalry in NA-130 since long. On May 11, the Hadyara police arrested 10 PML-N workers – including Tariq, Abu Saeed, Haroon, Sohail Shaukat Butt, Naseer, Nasir, Ali Butt, Shan, alias Shani Butt, and Sohaib Butt – and booked them under the ATA.
Ex-PPP minister Samina Khalid Ghurki influenced police for the purpose on the polling day, the court heard. Farhad Ali Shah, the counsel for accused, also succeeded in securing his clients’ bail. He told the court that the cases were false. Shah told the court that his clients bore the brunt of rivalry.
