LAHORE - A young woman was found shot dead from a five-star hotel room on The Mall, police said yesterday.
Investigators identified the woman as Rabia Naseer, a 24-year-old resident of Batapur and said to be the student of a local college. Her body was moved to the morgue for an autopsy.
The woman was found shot in the neck inside one of the rooms of the leading hotel located on The Mall, frequented by foreigners and political elite.
The hotel administration immediately called the police after a waiter witnessed the blood-soaked body lying on the bed. Police investigators say they also recovered a handbag, pistol, and bullets from the room.
It was however unclear yet who called the lady to the hotel room. The police asked the hotel administration to provide them complete record of the person who got the room booked.
A police officer who visited the crime scene told The Nation that they were investigating but no case was registered with the Race Course police till filing of this report.
Also, police were going through the CCTV footage, collected from the hotel administration, to know what actually happened there. Further investigations were underway.
JUNKIE FOUND DEAD
A 48-year-old man was found dead in Qila Gujjar Singh area yesterday. The police were yet to ascertain the identity of the deceased.
The body was moved to the morgue for an autopsy. Police investigators say the man was lying dead alongside a road in Royal Park as they reached the spot. Apparently the deceased was a drug addict, according to the police.
Raid on dance party
City police raided a dance party in Liaqatabad area late yesterday night and arrested four persons including three female dancers.
Police sources said that some men and women were dancing in semi-naked condition to celebrate the wedding ceremony of Akhlaq Ahmed in Rahmatpura when they raided the venue. Police also seized several bottles of liquor from their possession.
Three women and four men were arrested and put behind the bars. The police also registered a criminal case against the suspects.
Further investigations were underway.
