Take docs in the loop, LHC directs health dept

LAHORE - The Lahore High Court yesterday directed Punjab Health department to take doctors into confidence on Central Induction Policy.

Justice Shahid Jamil passed the order hearing several petitions filed by doctors challenging Central Induction Policy. The court adjourned further hearing until August 4.

The doctors, through their counsel, told the court that the government introduced the policy restraining doctors of private hospitals from working with public sector health facilities. They submitted that the policy amounted to ‘economic murder of doctors’. A Punjab health department law officer, however, opposed the doctors’ petitions saying that the policy would benefit the doctors. He maintained that the central induction policy was introduced to ensure better and quick treatment to patients at the hospitals.
