LAHORE - Abdul Sattar Edhi devoted his life for the cause of humanity, Punjab Opposition Leader Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed said while paying rich tribute to the late philanthropist.
“He (Edhi) is a role model for all of us. The whole nation paid homage to the saintly figure. There is no such other example,” the PTI leader said during a seminar held at Lahore Press Club yesterday.
Others who addressed the seminar included LPC President Shahbaz Mian, vice-president Abdul Majid Sajid, Director Akhuwat Dr Amjad Saqib, Barrister Amir Hussain, MPA Sadia Sohail, Dr Mushtaq Mangat, head of Rawadari Movement Samson Salamat and The Nation’s Editor Coordination Emanuel Sarfraz.
Mehmoodur Rasheed, in his speech, stressed the need of changing the system to save Pakistan. “We must all strive to do just that. This is what Edhi Sahib wanted,” he added.
Shahbaz Mian said that tributes have been paid to Edhi from across the world. “The work that he was doing was the responsibility of state,” he held.
Other speakers highlighted various facts about Edhi’s life, underlining his qualities and love for humanity.
